We're just a couple of weeks away from the launch of Black Myth: Wukong on PS5, so it's nice to see developer Game Science confirming that the action title has gone gold. A social media statement says that the game's now ready to go, and that everything's locked in for the big 20th August release date.
It's actually a huge announcement, considering the project's history. Wukong has been hanging about for years, having first entered development in 2018. And for a long time, onlookers would claim that the title simply didn't look real, and that it would probably never see the light of day.
But the Chinese studio has always stuck to its guns, and now, we're just two weeks out from finally playing a finished version of Black Myth: Wukong. Let's hope that it lives up to six years of heightened expectations!
"Right now, our entire team is working hard on the final stages of experiencing, testing, and deploying the game," Game Science writes. It also reveals that a brand new trailer will be dropping on the 8th August at 8am Beijing time, which is in the very early hours of the morning for us here in Europe. Something fun to wake up to, we suppose.
The developer goes on to warn players of potential spoilers doing the rounds online, and concludes: "We sincerely hope that all the mysteries and surprises of Black Myth: Wukong remain intact until the moment you embark on your journey. Your anticipation and trust given in the past four years are always remembered."
So, how hyped are you for Black Myth: Wukong? Be sure to destroy countless demons in the comments section below.

Perfect! I actually won this one at a giveaway ^__^
I've been watching it since 1-2 years ago, and it looks epic in every gameplay trailer.
Hype is all built up, I hope it delivers!
It will be interesting to see what kind of state this game is released in, considering the studio has only made mobile games before now. I'm hoping it's not going to be a case of the release now, patch later mentality endemic in Western game development.
@riceNpea Honestly I'd be shocked if they don't have the release now, patch later mentality. Nothing personal to them, it's just that it's taken over modern gaming. 90% of games in the AAA space are ***** at launch. Would love them to buck the trend. Out of all the big games releasing this year, I think the only one that will be brilliantly polished at launch will be astro bot. That's a sad state of affairs.
Im just curious how the PS5 version holds up. I don’t think they’ve shown anything but the PC version.
N.i.c.e. black myth wukong is going to be a instant hit.word up son
@atthegates well, I'm hoping this being a Chinese release they don't follow the same disrespectful habits of western publishers rushing out unfinished games.
Finally, Son Goku on ps5.
@jrt87 it's certainly looking promising. I really want to buy the game, but as we all know there's only a select number of publishers/developers who are reliable enough to trust to but a game at launch. Seeing as these chaps are new it's only prudent to take a wait and see approach.
Upgraded my graphics card a few days ago & i got this game for free so I'm all set for launch been looking forward to this for a long time.
@riceNpea Yeah let's hope so as the game looks brilliant.
So hyped for this game but im worried about the performance for the ps5. Hopefully its run and perform well
@Kiefer-Sutherland I heard its 4K/30fps or 1440p/60fps on PS5.
So I take it that this is another digital only game since the release date is only two weeks away. Is that right?
Incredible! I have it preordered digital on PSStore, they also have the honour of being my first digital preorder. I honestly suspected it would be pushed back, so the anticipation has now become palpable!
@Stevemalkpus Correct, hence my first digital preorder, there's no physical copy yet for PS5 and they suggested physical copies when they are released, will just feature a download code in the box. Which essentially makes physical a redundant choice.
The game still makes me nervous for release. I still can't tell exactly what the game is which is never a good sign so close to release, meanwhile it's a game being promoted by Nvidia itself, which combined probably means it's spending more time being a tech demo than a game if history is a guide, and likely janky (doubly so on AMD) as a result.
I hope yall will review it more fairly than IGN is going to.
I'm neck deep in Elden Ring at the moment, but I definitely want to play this when it releases.
My new gaming PC is ready! Got a "free" copy of the game since the machine has an Nvidia 4070 Super.
Now it just stares at me in my Steam Library.
